SFX Intermediate Workshop
Cast and create your own character using prosthetics. With the below workshops you will learn everything from designing your character from scratch, making molds, sculpting and creating silicone and latex prosthetics, learning how to apply, colour and remove the prosthetic. Students can work on themselves, although we highly recommend bringing in a model to learn how to apply to someone else simulating working within the makeup industry. Model will only be required for workshops #1 and #5.
Workshop 1 (3 hrs) - casting and creating a character, making face charts, learning about the different products and safety precautions, making plaster (positive) casts of ears and nose - this class will involve work with *Ultracal (plaster), alginate and plaster bandage, taking casts of both ears and nose to create a base to sculpt on.
Workshop 2 (2 hrs) - learning about sculpting tools and methods, de-molding, sculpting ears, setting nose cast into base plate, learning keys for mold placement.
Workshop 3 (2.5 hrs) - sculpting nose prosthetic piece, flashing and edging techniques, positive and negative molds, pouring the negative mold and creating latex ears.
Workshop 4 (2.5 hrs) - separating molds, pouring and making silicone prosthetic nose, learning application and colouring techniques and products.
Workshop 5 (4 hrs) - application, colouring, creating the character, removal and storage of molds.
Workshops will be held over a period of time as curing and drying will need to take place of the molds. In total around 14 hours of tutorial at a cost of $1650 including all materials and equipment. Payment plans available over the duration of the workshop.
